– Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) announced today that Red Lion’s annual Flag Day event will be held in Fairmount Park on Saturday, June 17, at 10 a.m.
“Red Lion is a very patriotic town, and Flag Day has been a great fit since we started this event four years ago,” Saylor said. “We just had a fantastic Memorial Day parade here, and Flag Day is a great way to kick off the summer. Plus, it is on the same day the park’s splash pad opens for the season, so bring the kids.”
The borough will hold Fairmount Fun Days, which includes games, a community barbecue and the opening of Fairmount Park’s splash pad for the season immediately following the ceremony.
Since its creation in 1916, Flag Day has commemorated the adoption of the United States flag. From the 13 stars representing the original colonies to the present 50, the American flag has been a symbol of freedom and liberty throughout the world.
