About Stan Stanley E. Saylor, state representative for the 94th Legislative District, York County, was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1992. Now in his 14th term, Stan maintains Chairmanship of the powerful House Appropriations Committee for the 2019-20 session. The Appropriations Committee is in charge of crafting the annual state budget and evaluating the fiscal impact of each piece of legislation that is passed by the House. Stan was previously elected by his colleagues to serve on the Republican Leadership Team as Policy Committee chairman from 2008–2010, as Majority Whip in 2010–14, and most recently served as the Chair of the Education Committee in 2015-16. He has been appointed to serve on the Pennsylvania Higher Education Facilities Authority, the State Public School Building Authority and the Education Commission of the States by the Speaker of the House for the 2015-16 legislative sessions. Stan is also a member of the School PlanCon Advisory Committee. A former small businessman, Stan is a strong proponent of clean fuel technology and weaning America off its addiction to foreign oil, Stan’s push for converting Pennsylvania’s predominately diesel-powered mass transit fleets to natural gas garnered him a national award from the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation and NGV America. He has been presented with the Defender of Liberty Award by the American Conservative Union. And, tapping into his experience as a small business owner to develop common-sense steps to improving the economy, he has also been recognized with the Elected Official Award from the York County Chamber of Commerce, the Guardian of Small Business Award from the Pennsylvania National Federation of Independent Business, the Statesman of the Year Award from Pennsylvanians for Right to Work, and the 2013 Better Life Award from the Pennsylvania Health Care Association. Selected as the Elected Official of the Year by the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Public Works Association in 2010, Stan was also named as an outstanding champion by Parents Anonymous of Pennsylvania for his continued work with community-based agencies in York County to sponsor professional seminars on child abuse prevention. Stan is a member of numerous clubs, associations and organizations in his district as well as in York County. He is a member of the York County Task Force on Domestic Violence, the Child Abuse Prevention Council of York Inc., and the Healthy York County Coalition. He served as president of the Pennsylvania Jaycees from 1990-91 and is a past member of the Red Lion Area Jaycees. A member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Red Lion, Stan also belongs to the Red Lion Library, Stewartstown Library, Red Lion and Mason-Dixon Business Associations, Red Lion Lions Club, Red Lion Masonic Lodge, York County Farmer’s Association, Pennsylvania Farmer’s Association, Red Lion Grange, Red Lion Historical Society, White Rose Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, and an Honorary Life Member of the Southern York County Forest Fire Crew. He is also a member of the National Association of Sportsmen Legislators and the Hopewell Fish and Game Club. Stan graduated from Dallastown Area High School, and majored in political science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He resides in Windsor Township, York County.
