Infrastructure Group Names Saylor ‘Elected Official of the Year’

Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) has been selected as “Elected Official of the Year” by the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Public Works Association.  The award is presented each year to recognize the career service achievements of elected officials charged with oversight or policy level review of public works or infrastructure issues.

“The maintenance of our infrastructure has been among my top priorities since I came to the Legislature,” said Saylor.  “Working with my colleagues and local officials, we have made great progress in York County, but plenty of work remains. Nonetheless, I am pleased to accept this honor in recognition of our efforts on behalf of York County.”

Saylor noted that infrastructure is likely to be a major issue in the remainder of the legislative session this year and in the new session which will begin in January 2011.

“Pennsylvania is facing a serious infrastructure crisis,” Saylor said.  “Our aging infrastructure continues to deteriorate even as the demands placed upon it continue to grow.  I look forward to working with my colleagues and the next governor to develop innovative solutions including the use of public-private partnerships and design-build projects to solve this growing problem.”

Saylor will formally accept the APWA award during a ceremony in November.
