York County Legislators to Host Senior Citizen Fraud Seminars
ED LION – Senior citizens, their families and caregivers are invited to attend one of the upcoming fraud seminars hosted by state Reps. Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion) and Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York Township).

“The fraud threat to senior citizens is growing and changing,” said Phillips-Hill. “Today’s criminals have access to technology that didn’t exist years ago and makes it easier to disguise their identity and appear to be legitimate.”

Phillips-Hill will be hosting a seminar this Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Stewartstown Senior Center, 26 South Main St., Stewartstown. She and Saylor will co-host a similar event on Thurs. Oct. 13, at Golden Connections Community Center (former Red Lion Senior Center), 20c Gotham Drive, Red Lion.

Both seminars begin at 10 a.m. and will be led by staff from the York County District Attorney’s Office.

“Our speakers will discuss ways to protect yourself against what continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in America,” Saylor added. “More than nine million Americans have their identities stolen each year and nearly $3 billion are lost annually in cases where senior citizens are the victims of a scam. These seminars are a way to educate yourself about the warning signs.”

Questions about these events or any legislative issue may be directed to Saylor’s office at (717) 244-9232 or Phillips-Hill’s office at (717) 428-9889.
