Areas of York County Get 4G Wireless Coverage

RED LION – Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) today announced that several locations in York County that previously lacked true high-speed wireless Internet service will now have such access due to new 4G LTE technology.

Verizon Wireless this week announced that the company’s 4G LTE network has been expanded to include customers in the New Park, Delta, Brogue and Hanover service areas.

The upgraded coverage for 4G LTE smartphones, tablets, notebooks, laptop modems and mobile hotspots translates into average download data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps.

This service expansion also allows residents of these areas the option of high-speed, in-home Internet access in areas where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.

“Over the years many people have contacted my office about Internet access, particularly to complain that they had no options for high-speed Internet in their home or their wireless devices,” Saylor said. “So, this demonstrates that things are improving and we appreciate Verizon making this improvement, but we still have to do a lot more to encourage high-speed Internet access to businesses and individuals in York County.”
