House Republicans Retain Saylor as Majority Whip
HARRISBURG –Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) has been re-elected by his House Republican colleagues to serve as the Republican Caucus whip for the 2013-14 legislative session.

“I am honored that I have been chosen to serve in this important position,” Saylor said. “I’m humbled by the support and trust my fellow colleagues have bestowed on me by giving me the opportunity to help lead our caucus in the upcoming session.”

As Whip, Saylor is responsible for tracking votes in the House and keeping his Republican colleagues informed on upcoming issues and legislation. He was first elected whip in November 2010.

This past legislative session was a fruitful one for Saylor’s promise to work on getting Pennsylvanians back to work in the face of a challenging economy, with both his Keystone Works legislation and a large part of his Marcellus Works initiative being signed into law.

Keystone Works partners those receiving unemployment benefits into training opportunities with employers seeking to fill positions, while Marcellus Works harnesses Pennsylvania’s plentiful natural gas resources to create manufacturing jobs downstream from the gas exploration region and promote natural gas vehicle usage to lower transportation costs with virtually zero greenhouse gas emissions.

In recognition of his leadership in encouraging businesses to convert their diesel and gasoline vehicle fleets into clean-burning natural gas vehicles (NGVs), Saylor was recently named the “NGV Public Policy Champion” by NGVAmerica and the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation.

“As whip, I look forward to helping lead the caucus in a positive direction,” Saylor said. “I plan to continue focusing on making Pennsylvania more economically competitive and making state government more accountable.”
