Funding Secured for Key Red Lion Project, Saylor Says
HARRISBURG – House Majority Whip Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion) today announced that the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has approved full funding – $15.6 million – for Red Lion Borough to build a new water filtration plant.

Currently, the borough’s water filtration processes lack adequate disinfection facilities, and the wastewater discharges to earthen, unlined lagoons, contrary to best practices.

“This is great news for our residents,” Saylor said. “The project will immediately create 35 construction jobs and when completed will deliver high-quality drinking water to more than 6,800 households in the boroughs of Red Lion and Windsor, and in Chanceford and York townships.”

Overall economic development from the project is estimated to be much greater, Saylor added. The analysis by PENNVEST projects that once completed, the water upgrade will allow General Dynamics Ordinance and Tactical Systems in Red Lion to invest another $300,000 in their facility and add 130 jobs within three years.
