HARRISBURG – The York County Republican Delegation to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, which consists of Reps. Seth Grove (R-Dover), Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York Township), Dawn Keefer (R-Dillsburg), Kate Klunk (R-Hanover), Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam) and House Appropriations Chairman Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion), announced today that every school district in York County received funding to improve student safety as part of a newly create grant program.

RED LION- Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) announced a $250,000 grant for Community REACH Inc., which is based in Red Lion. Community REACH is a nonprofit focused on helping low-income families in the Red Lion, Dallastown and Eastern York school districts. The organization operates a food pantry and a clothing drive, provides life skill training, and collects and distributes school supplies for local students.

HARRISBURG – Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) announced today that Union Volunteer Fire Co. in Felton has been awarded $8,388 in grant money strategically directed at local firefighting forces in communities with fewer than 10,000 residents.

RED LION- Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) announced a $750,000 grant for the Salvation Army of Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware to support the Pathway of Hope initiative. This grant will cover program costs in York, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Reading and Carlisle. It also allows the Salvation Army to launch Pathway of Hope programs in Boyertown, Norristown, Pottstown and Levittown starting in January 2019.

RED LION – Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) announced a $1 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant for the Kaltreider-Benfer Library in Red Lion. This grant will be used to add an additional 3,771 square feet to the existing library by building on the adjacent concrete pad area to create space for the children’s library, teen center and private study areas. The total cost of the project is $2.3 million.

HARRISBURG – An initiative designed to help at-risk youth in the Commonwealth is now law, according to Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York), prime sponsor of the measure. House Bill 824, now Act 51 of 2018, creates the National Guard Youth Challenge Program in Pennsylvania.

This year’s budget encapsulates three years of effort from the House Republican Caucus. The budget doesn’t raise taxes or fees, puts money away in Pennsylvania’s savings account known as the Rainy Day Fund, keeps spending growth below the rate of inflation and invests more in education. While the governor is out taking credit for the work of the General Assembly, it is important to remember that this budget and the last three passed under his term in office have reflected the ideals of Republicans in the General Assembly. Left to his own devices, the governor would have substantially raised taxes on every Pennsylvania family and massively increased state spending. House Republicans have been focused on job growth, and that is why we have fought the governor’s tax increases. We know higher taxes are counter-productive to a more robust economy.

HARRISBURG – With the inclusion of a 3.3 percent increase in funding for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and a 3 percent increase for Penn State, Temple, University of Pittsburgh, and Lincoln University, House Appropriations Chairman Stan Saylor (R-York) is calling on these universities to not increase their tuition for the upcoming school year.
