HARRISBURG- Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) released the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s decision to veto the Human Services Code contained in House Bill 59.
HARRISBURG – Responding to the credit downgrade from Standard & Poor’s today, House Republican leaders reminded investors and Pennsylvanians that the Commonwealth has never missed a payment and tax revenues are continuously being collected. The leaders also suggested the downgrade could help bring lawmakers together in the effort to address major cost-drivers in the state budget.

HARRISBURG – The state House on Tuesday passed House Bill 59, a key piece of the state budget package, on a predominately party-line vote. The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Dan Moul (R-Gettysburg), amends the Human Services Code to mandate work requirements for individuals on public assistance who are able to work and choose not to. It also reforms Pennsylvania’s Medical Assistance program to ensure the administration operates these critical programs within the appropriated budget to reduce executive overspending, while ensuring care for the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable citizens.
HARRISBURG – The state House on Thursday approved legislation to reform Pennsylvania’s pension systems – the State Employees’ Retirement System (SERS) and Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS). The bill now goes to Gov. Tom Wolf, who has indicated he will sign it.
HARRISBURG – As part of the House Republican effort to reinvent the operations and priorities of Pennsylvania government, the House approved legislation to stop pension costs from draining critical taxpayer resources away from schools, law enforcement and other important programs, House leaders said today. With a bipartisan vote of 143-53, the bill now heads to the governor’s desk for signature.
